🏹 Archery is a sport with roots tracing back to the hunting days of humanity, aiming to propel an arrow towards a target using a bow. In ancient times, it was employed for purposes like hunting and warfare.

⌛️ It first became part of the Olympic program in the 1904 Summer Olympics and has continuously featured in the programs since 1972. While France, Belgium, and Great Britain dominated this discipline in the early days, the United States, Russia, Scandinavian countries, Italy, and Korea followed suit in later periods. The International Archery Federation (FITA – Fédération Internationale de Tir a l’Arc), founded in 1931 and currently comprising 140 member countries, is the foremost authority in archery.

Turkish athletes frequently bring home gold, silver, and bronze medals from global competitions, making archery a beloved sport that has been part of Turkish culture since the Ottoman era.
